A 23-year-old man tried to hide from police after breaking into Keno’s Express at nearly 6 a.m. Friday, a police report said, but was soon busted.
Officers arrived to the 700 block of Hercules Lane and found the man still at the scene. The man fled on foot, turned a corner and dove into a flower bed. But he was soon discovered and apprehended, the report said.
The man was arrested and charged with burglary of the convenience store after officers spoke to witnesses and reviewed surveillance video.
He also had an outstanding warrant out of Dallas County for possession of a controlled substance.
9600 block of Grandview Drive — Three checks for more than $6,000 worth of antiques turned out to be fraudulent, according to a police report.
On Aug. 5, a 74-year-old woman sold several items to a buyer who paid with the three checks, which later did not clear through her bank, the report said.
The woman reported the incident to police Friday morning, but the suspect has yet to be identified.
2600 block of West University Drive — A woman was arrested Friday afternoon after attempting to shoplift more than $100 worth of merchandise from Kohl’s, a police report said.
400 block of Hollyhill Lane — Several items were stolen from a 50-year-old woman’s vehicle overnight Thursday.
A report of the incident was made, but it did not state whether a suspect has been identified.
