Police stopped when they saw two young men, ages 19 and 15, hop into a ditch in the 600 block of North Bradshaw Street at about 3 p.m. Saturday.
The 19-year-old had a torch lighter in his hand, commonly used for drugs, according to a police report. He told officers he was not using any narcotics and consented to a search. During the search, officers reported finding 20 grams of marijuana, a stolen firearm, a firearm with the serial number rubbed off, and brass knuckles.
The man was placed under arrest and charged with theft of a firearm, tampering with identification numbers, having a switchblade and brass knuckles, carrying a weapon in a weapon-free zone, and possession of marijuana. The 15-year-old was released to his mother.
400 block of Bryan Street — An officer responded to a domestic disturbance call Saturday. Two women were arguing, police reported, and one of the women, a 29-year-old, was arrested and charged with resisting arrest, criminal trespassing and assault causing bodily injury and family violence.
1800 block of Loop 288 — Target loss prevention employees contacted Denton police about a shoplifter Saturday. A 40-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly attempting to shoplift about $282 worth of merchandise, according to a police report.
