Blotter: Taxi driver left unpaid after drive from Garland to Denton

A taxi cab driver wasn't paid after giving a man a ride from Garland to Denton early Saturday, according to a police report.

About 2 a.m., they arrived at the destination, a residence in the 6600 block of Wellston Lane, and the passenger got out of the vehicle and told the driver he would return with the $65 he owed for the ride. 

The suspect went in the home and never came out. 

Other reports

300 block of Wood Street — About 5 p.m. Saturday, police responded to a domestic disturbance call. After police spoke with the victim and suspect to file a domestic disturbance report, one subject was arrested for four unrelated outstanding warrants. 

1700 block of Brinker Road — A person was reportedly seen taking several items out of the Thrift Giant store without paying. According to a police report, three employees followed the suspect to a nearby gas station, where he threatened to stab them with a screwdriver. 

The suspect crossed Loop 288, and the employees recovered three stolen items. 


Between 6 a.m. Saturday and 6 a.m. Sunday, Denton police responded to 175 calls for service, made nine arrests, and filed two felony charges and 14 misdemeanor charges.
