Blotter: Man mugged at gunpoint outside Walmart

A man told police he was loading groceries into his car Saturday night at Walmart in the 2700 block of West University Drive when he was approached by another man with a gun. 

At about 11 p.m. Saturday, the man pointed a gun to the victim's face and demanded his wallet, according to a police report. The victim gave the man his wallet, and the robber fled the scene.

The victim notified police, who created an offense report. No arrests were made.

2000 block of West University Drive — Police received a call Saturday about a door being stolen off a pickup. 

Sometime between 4 p.m. Friday and noon Saturday, the victim believes the driver's side door of his 1995 Chevrolet Cheyenne truck was stolen, according to a police report. No arrests were made. 

3600 block of East McKinney Street — A Family Dollar employee reported that a male stole some lunch meat and drove off at about 4 p.m. Saturday. 

Employees gave police information about the suspect, and he was cited for theft and released. 


Between 6 a.m. Saturday and 6 a.m. Sunday, Denton police made 149 calls for service, made 10 arrests, and filed two felony charges and 11 misdemeanor charges.
