Blotter: Dine-and-dashers left Denny's without paying $19 tab

Police responded to a theft call from Denny's in the 4000 block of North Interstate 35 at about 2 a.m. Saturday. 

A theft of service report was filed after an investigation into the unpaid $18.88 tab left behind by three males. There were no witnesses or security camera footage at the scene. 

No arrests were made, according to a police report.

1400 block of North Locust Street — At about 7 a.m. Saturday, a woman said she walked outside and witnessed someone get in her car and drive off without her permission. The vehicle was later tracked by GPS and the suspect was arrested. 

800 block of West Mulberry Street — Police on patrol in the Fry Street bar area witnessed a vehicle pull out of a private parking lot without its headlights on at about 3 a.m. Saturday, according to a police report. 

Police reported that they tried to get the driver's attention but were ignored. The suspect was eventually arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated and possession of a controlled substance.

Between 6 a.m. Saturday and 6 a.m. Sunday, Denton police handled 128 calls for service, made 12 arrests, and filed three felony charges and 10 misdemeanor charges.
