Blotter: 39-year-old man arrested after victim found with bruises on her neck, face

A 39-year-old man was arrested Friday morning after a caller told police about witnessing the man physically assaulting a 37-year-old woman in the 2100 block of Spencer Road, according to a police report. 

The suspect reportedly hit the woman in the face and attempted to choke her, the report said. She had visible bruising on her neck and face, according to the police report. 

The man was arrested on a charge of family violence assault, impeding breathing or circulation.

2500 block of Stella Street — A 31-year-old man reported to police he was assaulted by man he knew while driving around town Saturday, according to a police report. 

The victim appeared to have bled from his nose, the report said. No further information was available Saturday.

1000 block of Dallas Drive — A 24-year-old woman told police that after responding to an online ad, she deposited a check that turned out to be forged into her bank account. She then sent money to someone in New Jersey via money transfer, according to a police report. When the check failed to clear, her bank account balance was left negative. 

The woman reported the scam to police, and a fraud report was filed. 

8500 block of Mild Creek Lane — While in search of her ex-boyfriend, a woman burglarized her ex's grandparent's home Friday, according to a police report. 

The age of the suspect was not given in the report. A 76-year-old man was named as a victim. 


Between 6 a.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Saturday, Denton police handled 165 calls for service, made 14 arrests, filed two felonies and 21 misdemeanors and filed 18 reports online.
