Blotter: Trucks broken into at water treatment plant

Denton police investigated at a water treatment plant Friday morning after a caller reported a burglary in the 1700 block of Spencer Road, according to a police report. 

Police were dispatched to the area at about 7:30 a.m. Friday after the caller reported two work trucks were broken into after someone apparently broke through a security fence. 

It is unclear if anything was stolen. There was no further information Saturday.

2100 block of Bernard Street — A 19-year-old man was arrested in connection with a domestic violence call, according to a police report. 

Police responded to the call at about 11:55 p.m. Friday. An 18-year-old Denton woman was named as the victim in the report. 

The man was arrested on a charge of assault family violence causing bodily injury and was held in the Denton City Jail on Saturday in lieu of $5,000 bail. 

400 block of Northridge Street — A 50-year-old man reported to police that someone has cloned his business checks and has been cashing them all around the country, according to a police report. 

2700 block of West University Drive — A 19-year-old woman and a 20-year-old woman were arrested in connection with a report of shoplifting at a Denton Walmart store Saturday, according to a police report. 

A Walmart employee reported witnessing the two women shoplifting merchandise from the store, according to police. After an investigation, the two were arrested on charges of theft between $100 and $750, with one of them also wanted on a Denton police warrant for a speeding violation. They were transported to the Denton City Jail.


Between 6 a.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Saturday, Denton police responded to 181 calls for service, made 14 arrests and issued 16 charges, including two felonies and 14 misdemeanors. Denton police also filed 17 reports online.
