5:30 to 7:30 p.m. -- Visual Arts Society of Texas' opening reception for the 125-Mile Exhibition, in the Gough Gallery at the Patterson-Appleton Arts Center, 400 E. Hickory St. Juried exhibit features work by artists living within a 125-mile radius of Denton. The exhibit runs through Feb. 24. Free. Visit www.vastarts.org.

Friday night community dances at Denton Senior Center, 509 N. Bell Ave., from 7 to 9:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Friday of each month.
