The Aubrey City Council will meet with its attorney in a closed-door meeting Thursday to discuss the contract of its former city administrator, terms of a separation agreement and severance pay.
The special meeting is slated to begin at 6 p.m. at Aubrey City Hall, 107 S. Main St.
The executive session discussion is the sole item on the meeting agenda. The council could possibly return from the discussion to consider a terms-of-separation agreement and severance pay for Matt McCombs, who served as city administrator for more than two years.
On May 19, Mayor Janet Meyers confirmed that McCombs is no longer employed with the city. The Pilot Point Post-Signal newspaper reported that May 18 was McCombs' last day at work in Aubrey.
Meyers has declined comment on the grounds for the separation agreement or how soon Aubrey anticipates looking to replace McCombs.
"I have nothing else to say until negotiations are completed," Meyers wrote the Denton Record-Chronicle in an email May 19.
