Denton rescue groups make appeal for dog's care

The Denton Animal Support Foundation and I AM DOG RESCUE have partnered to help Sky, a 1-year-old pitbull mix rescued by deputies with the Denton County Sheriff's Office.

Sky was rescued during a call for possible animal cruelty. Another dog rescued at the same time was also taken to the Argyle Veterinary Hospital, but did not survive. After two surgeries, Sky is doing well, but she needs additional treatment before she will be ready for adoption, according to foundation officials.

Sky is being fostered with IADR and the foundation is raising money to cover expenses for Sky's recovery.

Bette Sherman, foundation chairwoman, said the medical and recovery expenses are expected to reach $3,000.
