The district covers much of Denton County as well as a portion of Tarrant County. Birkenstock announced her candidacy at a launch party in her Frisco home Thursday.

Birkenstock founded Practical Employee Solutions in 1996, a company that helps businesses recruiting employees from other countries through the H2-B Visa Program.

She is the mother of three, including two adopted children, and calls herself a strong supporter of pro-life causes. In a press release, Birkenstock said she was among the first Texans to support Donald Trump and raised more than $350,000 for his campaign.
