Ponder teen to compete for title of Miss Junior Teen Texas
A Ponder teen is a finalist in the National American Miss Texas Pageant.
Olivia Crowder, 14, is a freshman homeschool student who will compete to represent the state in the national pageant.
The finalists will compete July 16-17 at the Westin Galleria Dallas.
Crowder enjoys studying history and science and has a passion for conservation. She hopes to write historical fiction.
The teen who is crowned Miss Junior Teen Texas will get a $1,000 cash award, the crown, banner and bouquet. The winner will also travel to the national pageant at Disneyland in California. The winner represents the state for a year.
Denton County fundraiser for research hospital planned
A Denton County fundraiser for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital will be at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 23 at the Robson Ranch Clubhouse, 9428 Ed Robson Blvd.
"Denton's Magical Night of Hope" benefits St. Jude's, a research hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, that treats children regardless of their family's ability to pay for care. The event includes dinner, a cash bar, a silent auction and entertainment.
