Denton's public cemetery fees to increase

The Denton City Council voted Tuesday to increase fees at the city's two public cemeteries. The increases come after a survey of fees in other area cemeteries.

The city's two public cemeteries are the historic Oakwood Cemetery near Fred Moore Park in Southeast Denton and the IOOF Cemetery on Carroll Boulevard.

The price for burial of a full coffin will increase to $600-$900 at IOOF and to $350-$525 at Oakwood. The fee for burial of infant coffins is $250-$375 at both cemeteries.

In addition, at IOOF the interment of cremains will increase to $100-$150. Burial permits and stone permits will increase to $50-$75.

The council recently voted to install new fencing at both cemeteries and allocated funds to repair damaged headstones.
