Denton Community Theatre will open the comedy Smart Pretty Funny by Kathleen Anderson Culebro on Friday, Sept. 29 at PointBank Black Box Theatre, 318 E. Hickory St.

The comedy, which has been produced just once at Amphibian Stage Productions in Fort Worth, considers the fate of the last single woman on earth.

In Smart Pretty Funny, fate sends a letter to everyone on Earth revealing their true love. Meg is left alone — no match made by fate. As her boyfriend boards a plane bound for his new love, Meg turns to her family. She’s surprised to learn that she might be better off alone.

The comedy opens the 2017-2018 season in the black box, where the company stages experimental and newer work.

Performances are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Sept. 29-30 and 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1. Tickets cost $15.
