Denton Municipal Electric sent a crew of 20 linemen and others to help restore power to one Florida community last week. They returned Thursday.
The city of Ocala, population 59,000, was hit hard by Hurricane Irma. Ocala is located in central Florida, about 80 miles northwest of Orlando.
When crews arrived, nearly everyone in Ocala was without power. Crews worked for a week and were able to restore power to every home that did not have damage. The DME group left Ocala on Wednesday morning and returned to Denton on Thursday evening.
The city will be reimbursed for the work through a mutual aid agreement.
