'Fill the Pantry' to raise funds, collect food for Denton's hungry

A "Fill the Pantry" event from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14, is the highlight of a monthlong campaign to raise money and collect nonperishable food for nine Denton County agencies. 

Fill the Pantry Extravaganza will be at Trinity United Methodist Church, 633 Hobson Lane, in the outdoor pumpkin patch on the east side of the church. Attendees can bring nonperishable food and cash donations to the event, which includes a craft show, bake sale, bounce houses and face painting, a car show and live music. Free hot dogs, chips, cotton candy and water will be served. Patrons also can buy pumpkins from the pumpkin patch or take fall photographs of their families in the patch. 

Donations can be made any time leading up to the extravaganza by visiting Donors can bring nonperishable food and donations at the church from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday throughout the month.
