The University of North Texas College of Music was among a recent Billboard Magazine list.
The magazine named the college in its top 15 Best Music Business Schools in 2017.
Fabiana Claure, a UNT music professor, launched the College of Music's career development and entrepreneurship in music program in 2016. The program teaches music students to develop business models that either bolster their developing skills as a musician, a music teacher or sell their related music products and services.
Claure launched the inaugural UNT Music Entrepreneurship Competition in April, which culminated in a final round that mimicked the popular television show Shark Tank. Claure has also created a new Innovative Music Programming Competition, for which the winner will be announced on Wednesday, Oct. 18.
The winner will perform a concert of their proposed material on Nov. 9 at the Patterson-Appleton Arts Center, 400 E. Hickory St. The winner will get $250 to market their performance.
