UNT One O'clock Lab Band plans fall concerts with guests

The University of North Texas One O'clock Lab Band will share the state two guests in concerts this fall. 

The U.S. Navy Band Commodores, an 18-piece big band, will perform a free concert at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 25 at the University Union Syndicate, 1155 Union Circle. The One O'clock Lab and will open for the Commodores, which includes six alumni of the UNT College of Music.  The lab band's pre-concert rehearsal will be open to the public, along with an earlier Commodores concert at 2 p.m., in Kenton Hall at 415 Ave. C. 

Four-time Grammy-winning jazz bassist Christian McBride will perform with the One O'clock Lab Band at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 21 in the Winspear Performance Hall at the Murchison Performing Arts Center, 2100 Interstate 35E. 

McBride is one of the most recorded musicians of his generation. He's recorded with jazz icons Freddie Hubbard and Herbie Hancock, R&B artists Isaac Hayes and James Brown and rock artists Sting and Paul McCartney. 

Tickets to the McBride concert cost $15 for adults, $10 for UNT students, faculty, staff and UNT Alumni Association members. For reservations, visit the Murchison Performing Arts Center website.
