University of North Texas College of Music will present a concert of music rarely heard outside of the walls of Sufi Muslim worship spaces at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2. The concert takes place in the Recital Hall in the music building, 415 S. Ave. C.

Qawwali singers will perform their sacred music, which began more than 700 years ago as a traditional form to deliver inspirational messages to devotees inside a shrine. The group's concert "Qawwali - Ecstatic Sufi Singers of Pakistan" brings some of the direct descendants of the original Qawwali singers to Denton.

The music blends Sufi ritual music with Indian classical and folk music. The concert is free.
