Beaulolais & More, Denton's annual wine, beer and food tasting fundraiser, will be 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 16 at the Denton Civic Center, 321 E. McKinney St.

The annual wine and food tasting benefits the Campus Theatre, the historical cinema-turned-performing arts and film screening venue.

The fundraiser started years ago as a way to bring the festive fall celebration of beaujolais nouveau, a fruity, short-lived red wine that's celebrated as the first crush of the season in the Beaujolais wine region in France.

The event evolved into a sampling of the famous wine (which wine snobs will tell you isn't the best of the bunch) and a sampling of menus from the city's restaurants. This year's event serves food from casual downtown dining — from Hoochie's Oyster Shop, Juicy Pig Barbecue and Mellow Mushroom — to the ever-so-slightly more formal joints, such as Queenie's Steakhouse, Barley & Board and 940's Kitchen & Cocktails. Pan-Asian dining fans can taste offerings from Thai Ocha, Thai Square and Andaman Thai. Local bars, grills and Tex-Mex joints are also bringing their fare to the event.

Admission costs $25 in advance, and $30 at the door.
