Fathom Events and the Metropolitan Opera will present a screening of the documentary The Opera House to cinemas across the country on Saturday, Jan. 13 and Wednesday, Jan. 17.

The Opera House chronicles the Metropolitan Opera's search for a new home in the 1950s and '60s. The film was a selection of the 2017 New York Film Festival. Director Susan Froemke surveys a period of transition for the opera and for New York City. The film uses rarely-seen archival footage and photos, uses recent interviews and creates a soundtrack from the opera's best performances.

Denton County opera fans can see a screening at 12:55 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13, and at 12:55 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17 at Vista Ridge Mall, 2401 S. Stemmons Fwy. in Lewisville.
