McDonald named to Denton's top planning post

Denton City Manager Todd Hileman has named Scott McDonald as the city's chief building official and director of development services. 

He is the fourth person to lead the department in the past five years. 

McDonald joined the city staff as deputy director of development services and building official on Sept. 11. He was named the interim director at the end of September after Munal Muladad resigned the post.

McDonald came to Denton from Amarillo, where he was a manager of several city departments. He holds a master's degree in public administration from Wayland Baptist University.

McDonald is a certified building official and holds numerous certifications through the International Code Council and the National Fire Protection Association.
