The University of North Texas Texas Fashion Collection has items from it's collection on exhibit in joint show with the Goss-Michael Foundation in Dallas. The show runs through Feb. 2.
"On Bodies: Highlights from The Goss-Michael Foundation and the UNT Texas Fashion Collection" explores the hot topic of the human form. P.J. Heil, the foundation's adjunct curator, and Annette Becker, the assistant director of the UNT Texas Fashion Collection, selected items from both collections to explore the ideas and ideals about bodies.
Art by English artists Tracey Emin and Damien Hirst, among others, are highlighted alongside fashions by Jean Paul Gaultier, Todd Oldham, John Galliano and other designers. Artist and stylist Ruben Burgess Jr., who makes art under the moniker Sartorialnolift, was commissioned to interpret the show's theme through drawing, painting and collage.
The Goss-Michael Foundation was co-founded by University of North Texas alumnus Kenny Goss, who was the longtime life partner of the late pop star George Michael.
Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Admission is free. The gallery is located at 1305 Wycliff Ave. #120.
