The Denton County Homeless Coalition is seeking volunteers for its annual "point-in-time" count of the area's homeless population. The group is also seeking $5 gift card donations to help.
The count will be held Thursday, Jan. 25. Volunteers help with the census that becomes the basis for future public policy and funding. Volunteers give the gift cards (gas, grocery, fast-food restaurants preferred) to encourage people experiencing homelessness to participate.
Gift card donations can be delivered to the United Way of Denton County, 1314 Teasley Lane. To volunteer, signup on the group's website, tinyurl.com/DentonCounts18.
