Pet owners - especially devoted ones who don't have children - like to have their pooches photographed with St. Nick. There are loads of opportunities to get those snaps - or just hang out with man's best friend. 

Shops at Clearfork in Fort Worth through Dec. 24. All family members are welcome. Free (if you want a photo, you'll need to take your own).

Half Price Books' flagship store from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday and 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday through Dec. 17. 5803 E. Northwest Highway. Instead of a charge for photos, donations will be collected for the North Texas Food Bank.

Southwest Ford in Weatherfordfrom 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 16. Two-legged little ones and other pets are welcome too. 3000 Fort Worth Highway. $5 for a photo, benefits Parker Paws.

PetSmart stores from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec 10 and Dec. 16 -17. Photos will be emailed, or you can take your own. Free, with some locations collecting donations for local rescue efforts. Find stores at

•Operation Kindness' volunteers are wrapping gifts for donations at the Barnes & Noble at Park and Preston in Plano from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily through Sunday, Dec. 10 and then 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. through Dec. 23. You're welcome to bring in presents purchased elsewhere too.

•Homegrown Hounds' Snackin Waggin will be at Unbranded from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 14-15. Four-legged shoppers are welcome, and there are free photos with a pooch-friendly Santa from 5 to 8 Thursdays and 6 to 8 Fridays.

•More events this weekend that welcome leashed dogs: Noble Rey Brewing Co.'s Holiday Market (weekly through Christmas) and Candlelight at Dallas Heritage Village on Sunday.

•More meet and greets (pooches welcome at all): Rockwall Pets at the Petco in Rockwall from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturdays and 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays. ... Canine Companions Lone Star Chapter at Rock & Brews in The Colony from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10 where they'll receive 25 percent of all food sales during the event (show server the flyer or event listing on your phone). And for two-legged visitors only: The SPCA of Texas is at NorthPark Center through Dec. 23, and Operation Kindness is at the Galleria until Dec. 31.

•Duck Team 6 is celebrating its annual Festivus Challenge with a happy hour from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17 at Lake House Bar & Grill, which has an enclosed pooch-friendly patio. This year they hope to raise $15,000, and a donor has agreed to a $10,000 match. 7510 E. Northwest Highway. If you mention that's why you're there, they'll receive 15 percent of your bill. •Holiday Wonder, a walk-through display of lights and other decorations debuting this year in Fair Park, will have dog-friendly days on Monday, Dec. 18 and Jan. 2. The lineup also includes foods from around the world, performances and activities including Santa's Arctic Slide and snowball making. In the area around the lagoon at Fair Park, 1318 S. Second Ave. $12 to $20. You can also bring four-leggers to the Texas Motor Speedway Gift of Lights in Fort Worth (must be leashed when visiting Santa), Prairie Lights Drive-Through Holiday Light Park in Grand Prairie (must remain in car), Vitruvian Lights in Addison and the Ugly Christmas Sweater Shops.

•Also dog-friendly Wednesday: the Highland Park Village Local market, which is on a new day and time this month.
