House fire displaces Denton family

Firefighters arrived in the 3300 block of Teasbend Court in southern Denton to find heavy smoke surrounding a single-family home at about 12:30 p.m. Christmas Day.

The majority of the fire was in and around the garage and was under control about 20 minutes after the first unit arrived, according to Kenneth Hedges, assistant deputy fire chief and spokesman for the Denton Fire Department.

No injuries were reported. However, the family, including one adult and three children, were expected to receive assistance from the American Red Cross.

No word yet from fire officials on the cause of the fire.
