The Monkberries — a duo anchored by Marissa Hunt and Adam Millard — has been building a following in Durango, Colorado since moving there over the summer.

The couple — who got together romantically and musically in Denton — is planning to visit their old stomping grounds in January. Hunt said the pair is making room in their schedule for a show at 9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6 at Backyard on Bell, 410 N. Bell Ave. They share the bill with Megan Storie.

The Monkberries are among Denton's feel-good pop music makers — from Andrew Tinker's expertly written pop-rock to Big Round Spectacles boyish, hymn-book piano rock. Millard and Hunt sound comfortable together, and Millard's tenor brightens Hunt's woodier mezzo.

Tickets cost $10.
