Three Denton churches will host the nine-week personal finance program. Financial Peace University teaches participants how to build wealth by paying off debt, amassing emergency savings plans and retirement planning.

Denton Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will begin its course at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11 at the church, 1111 Cordell St. Register online for the course here

Faith United Methodist Church will begin its course at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30 at the church, 6060 Teasley Lane. Register online for the course here

Ramsey teaches lessons on budgeting, relationships and money, getting out of debt, saving for emergencies and investing. On average, families who complete the course pay off $5,300 and save $2,700 in the first 90 days. Following the class, nearly 94 percent of those families budget regularly.

The course costs about $129, and includes materials, online content and tools.
