Winning violinist to perform with Lewisville symphony

Competition winner Megan Lin will perform with the Lewisville Lake Symphony at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 9 at the Medical City Lewisville Grand Theatre, 100 N. Charles St. in Old Town Lewisville.

Lewisville Lake Symphony

Lin, a junior violin student at Liberty High School in Frisco, won the  symphony's Vernell Gregg Young Artists Competition in 2017. The prize includes a performance with the symphony in the next season. 

Lin will perform Wienlawski's "Violin Concerto No. 1 in F# Major." 

Lin became a competitive violinist at age 10, when she placed in the Collin County Young Artist Competition. She played Carnegie Hall as concert mistress of the Honors Junior Orchestra in 2014. Lin was accepted into the 2017 New York String Orchestra Seminar. 

The Vernell Gregg first prize included $1,000. Tickets cost $25 for adults, $20 for senior citizens and $10 for students.
