The annual Go Red for Women luncheon sold out during the Feb. 23 fashion show last month.

The event raised $50,000 for the Denton Division of the American Heart Association campaign.

Go Red for Women brought local business leaders, philanthropists and heart disease survivors to raise awareness of and prevent heart disease and stroke, one of the leading causes of death among Amercian women.

More than 200 attendees wore red and attended the lunch and fashion show at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Denton Convention Center. The funds will benefit research and education programs to fight heart disease and stroke.

Fashion design students at Texas Woman's University and the University of North Texas made garments - all of them red - for the runway. The event was nationally sponsored by Macy's and CVS Health and locally sponsored by Texas Health Resources.
