That's part of the foundation for the Taylor Log Cabin.
The Taylor Log Cabin was moved from Corinth to be a part of the Denton County Historical Park. A park master plan shows the park grounds being expanded to this area of the parking lot, with a privy, kiln, smokehouse, barn and demonstration garden nearby.
Piers for a foundation were poured several months ago. The foundation itself must be re-engineered, according to Peggy Riddle, the director of Denton County museums.
"The cabin had a rock foundation, but we are having a more substantial one built as the Historical Park is partially located in a flood plain," Riddle said in an email.
Crews hope to have the foundation work finished this summer, she added.
In addition to examples of the county's earliest structures, the park plays host to both the Denton County Farmer's Market and the Denton Community Market. A park master plan also shows silos coming to the the parking lot, which will eventually be improved with covered parking that can shelter vendors on market days.
