Reserving a plot costs $20 and requires you to sign an agreement with Denton Parks and Recreation.
The community garden is located in Bowling Green Park in northwest Denton. However, to reserve a plot, you must drop by the parks office in the Denton Civic Center, 321 E. McKinney St., during regular business hours.
The plots are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. Some plots measure about 140 square feet; larger plots are 225 square feet.
The parks department requires gardeners to clear their spot by Nov. 30 each year. A crew will disk the soil before planting, but gardeners are responsible for prepping the soil for planting, including adding compost or other amendments.
Gardeners aren't permitted to set up sprinklers or timers, only hand-watering is allowed.
For more information, visit the parks website, or call the parks office at 940-349-7275.
