High winds capsize boat, fisherman drowns

Toan Nguyen, a 45-year-old Lewisville man, drowned Friday afternoon at Lewisville Lake after his fishing boat capsized.

Winds over 30 mph overturned Nguyen's 14-foot boat, according to Denton County game warden Stormy McCuistion.

According to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office, the drowning happened in the lake near Hickory Creek's Westlake Park.

“That kind of boat is very hard to control, and high winds didn’t help matters,” McCuistion said.

Nguyen was wearing no life jacket when the boat went under, but his accompanying friend wore one and survived.
