Blotter: Northlake police probe Fort Worth man’s death

Northlake police are investigating the early morning death of a 21-year-old Fort Worth man.

At 2:36 a.m. Monday, the Denton County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call saying that a car was partially in the roadway and blocking traffic in the northbound lane of Interstate 35W just north of FM1171.

Several more calls were received alerting deputies to a man lying face-down in front of the car. When officers arrived, the man was dead, police said.

"We believe he was struck by a vehicle. Right now we're still sorting through it all," Northlake police Sgt. Bobby Dowell said.

No charges have been filed.

Michael Duffee was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's office.

Other reports

Denton police are looking for a man whose dog bit another man during an altercation Monday.

Officers responded to a convenience store in the 1600 block of Teasley Lane to speak with the bite victim.

The man said he drove up to the convenience store with his family, intent on getting a DVD from the movie kiosk in front of the store.

According to the report, a man walked up with a dog on a leash. The dog began walking around the victim, wrapping the leash around his legs.

When the man said something to the owner, he was met with hostility and shoving as the dog owner wanted to fight, according to the report.

The dog owner went in the store and when he came back out, he told the victim to come to the back of the store to settle things.

The man went and arguing ensued again. The two pushed each other, eventually falling on the ground. As they wrestled, the dog bit the victim, the report states.

Afterward the dog owner fled the scene with the animal, according to the report.
