Roger Jens Madsen Roger Jens Madsen

Roger Jens Madsen, 82, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2011 at his home in Denton and donated his body to UT Southwestern Medical School.

He was born in Minneapolis, MN on June 25, 1929, and married Joan Melek on April 11, 1970.

He served in the US Army as a Sergeant in the 34th Ordnance Company in Korea during the Korean War. He played tennis from his youth and for years was ranked in his age group in Texas. He played table tennis competitively in Minnesota and played golf scrambles around North Texas.

He worked as a production line tool designer for a number of companies including Tennant Sweeper, Victor Equipment, and Texas Instruments.

Roger is survived by his wife of 42 years Joan; sons, Christopher of Richardson, and Michael and wife Becca of Denton; grandsons Jensen and Matthew of Denton; brother-in-law Bill Berger and 10 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Jens and Annie Madsen of Minneapolis, MN; sister Betty Berger and brother Chester and wife Shirley.

Visitation will be at 11am Monday, February 6 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 2255 N Bonnie Brae in Denton, followed by a Memorial Mass offered by Father Victor Cruz at 11:30 am.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to USTA Serves, the charity of the US Tennis Association.



Martha L. Sitzes

Martha L. Sitzes, 85, of Pilot Point passed away at her residence on Saturday, January 28, 2012.She was a retired elementary school teacher having taught for thirty-three years in the Fort Worth Independent School District.Martha was born August 12, 1926 to Roy Mahan and Emma Ray Campbell Tompkins in Beaumont, Texas.She received her education training at North Texas State Teachers College in Denton.She married Lawson Gerald Sitzes, Jr. in Fort Worth, Texas on June 17, 1949.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 11:30 A.M. at Pilot Point Community Cemetery with Reverend Luther Slay officiating.

Martha is survived by one niece, Martha Medina of Austin, Texas; two nephews, Jim Hardin of Hotchkiss, CO. and Joe Hardin of Holbrook, AZ.She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawson Gerald Sitzes, Jr., one sister, Adelia "Addie" Ray Baggett and one nephew, Arthur Hardin.

Memorials in honor of Martha L. Sites may be made to Pilot Point Community Library or to Pilot Point School District.

Services are under the direction of Terri Slay and the staff of Slay Memorial Funeral Center, Aubrey, Texas.

Rene Compton, 74, passed away Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012, surrounded by her family.

A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday at University Christian Church in Fort Worth with a reception following. Interment: Private. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Greenwood Funeral Home, 3100 White Settlement Road, Fort Worth, 76107.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Rene was born Jan. 4, 1938, to Irene Mercer Compton and William O. Compton. She was extremely proud of her heritage and often told colorful stories of growing up on the Mercer ranch with her Mama, Papa and loving family.

Rene lived life to the fullest, always surrounding herself with family, friends and animals. She was one of a kind, no doubt about it. She loved people. Her home was always open and served as the headquarters for two generations of Paschal students, rodeo cowboys or anyone looking for a good meal and a place to stay.

The family would like to thank the caregivers of American Hospice and Longmeadow Care Center.

Rene was preceded in death by her parents and her infant brother, Billy Tom.

Survivors include daughters, Pam Roach Thomas and husband, David, of San Antonio, Beth Roach of Krum, and Caroline Roach Proctor and husband, Randy, of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Bryson Proctor and Mercer Proctor.

Maria Hutchison Maria Hutchison

Maria Hutchison, age 63 of Denton, passed away on Sunday January 29, 2012 in the arms of God and surrounded by all those who loved her deeply.

Maria was born on December 4th,1948 in Boston, Massachusetts to Maurice and Pauline (Katchakowski ) Stevens. She moved to California where she met the love of her life, her soul mate, David Hutchison. Maria married at the age of 13 and passed away at 63 with a lifetime filled with memories. She has touched our lives and souls and was truly a blessing to us all. Her presence in our lives was a gift we will always be thankful for, in addition to her cooking. She would feed an Army if asked. She had laughter and a smile that was contagious and would light up a room. Maria retired from Russell Newman after 18 years as the Shipping Secretary and missed her co-workers, truck drivers, pitching quarters and selling of the football pools.

Maria is survived by David, her husband, of 49 years, son James and wife Shayla Hutchison, daughter Joanna Hutchison, granddaughter Kirstan Hutchison, grandsons Garrett Hutchison, Hunter Lynch and Jory Hutchison, sister Carol Nelson, and beloved dog Charly.

The Memorial Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Chapel on Friday, February 3, 2012, at 11:00 am. Father Richard Kirkland will conduct the Mass with Deacon Emilio "Popo" Gonzalez assisting.
