Youngsters involved in the Mission Quest program at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church ended their summer by conducting a supply drive for the Denton Animal shelter. The children collected dog and cat food, clay cat litter, Dawn detergent, pet toys, towels and other supplies. Mission Quest is for elementary-aged children, with weekly mission projects that focus on the needs of local, national and global communities.
The effort drive resulted in enough pet supplies to fill the back of a church bus, said Lisa Patterson, associate pastor. “I know the Denton Animal Shelter staff said they were really getting low, so it was a much-needed delivery,” she said.
After gathering up the donations at the church, the children toured the animal shelter. “The experience and the tour were life changing,” Patterson said. “It’s really neat to see them getting passionate about it.”
