Two men armed with handguns and reportedly wearing ghoul masks as seen in the Scream horror movies robbed a Denton travel center Saturday, according to police reports.

Witnesses called police at about 11:17 p.m. regarding two suspicious men, who were not masked, panhandling in the parking lot near the center, located in the 6400 block of Interstate 35.

Witnesses in the parking lot told police that the men put their masks on and pulled out guns as they entered the building.

Employees told police that the men pointed guns at them, ordering the employees to sit still and empty the cash registers.

Witnesses reported that each man held a weapon similar to a Glock pistol. The police report did not state how much money was taken.

After making contact with the employees and securing the area, police requested a K-9 unit to help with the search for the suspects. Witnesses told police that the men exited the building and ran away on foot.

Police searched fields near the building and found money believed to have been taken in the robbery, the police report stated.

Police were still investigating the case at the time the report was filed.
