The second man involved in a motorcycle accident early Wednesday morning died that afternoon at a Fort Worth hospital.

State troopers are still investigating the accident that took the lives of 27-year-old Juan Hernandez of Ponder and 23-year-old Blaiz Beale of Little Elm.

The accident happened at 2:40 a.m. near the intersection of Schluter Road and Cinnamon Court west of Ponder.

The two men and a third man were riding together and had been all night, said Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman Lonny Haschel.

“The third one was a quarter-mile ahead; they were heading back to his house,” Haschel said. “He saw that his buddies didn’t show up, so he went back and he found them, and he called it in.”

Beale was pronounced dead at the scene. Hernandez died later at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth.

Both riders were wearing helmets, Haschel said.

Investigators have said that evidence collected from the roadway indicates the two men were riding toward each other and collided head-on.

Haschel said the investigation is ongoing and investigators are awaiting toxicology reports.
