Blotter: Resident reports possible sighting of mountain lion

A Bartonville resident reported a possible sighting of a mountain lion near South Gibbons Road and Seals Road in Bartonville on Friday. Bartonville police are asking residents to be on alert because mountain lions pose a threat to humans, pets and livestock.

Police ask that people report any sightings to the Bartonville police department at 817-430-1913. And for immediate threats call 911.

2800 block of Santa Monica — On Saturday at 12:39 a.m., an officer located a white SUV parked on a street with one of its doors open and three occupants inside.

According to the police report, the officer made contact with the passengers and immediately noticed the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.

The officer also observed alcoholic beverage bottles in the vehicle’s back seat, and after identifying all the passengers, the officer learned the occupants were underage, the police report stated.

The officer asked the driver where the marijuana was, and the driver grabbed an unmarked prescription bottle containing marijuana out of a backpack in the back seat, the police report stated.

Officers arrested the driver for marijuana and alcohol possession, and the other two passengers for alcohol possession.

2700 block of West University Drive — At 12:57 p.m., a woman reported her wallet was stolen out of her purse while she was shopping Saturday. The woman told police she later learned that someone had used her debit card at more than one location without her permission, the police report stated.

Video footage from two businesses where the woman shopped was later obtained, and the video showed potential suspects.
