Blotter: Party guests take more than party favors

A man reported that guests at a party at his house apparently took more than party favors when they left, after he woke up and realized his money and car were missing.

Police responded to the call at 3:49 a.m. in the 5300 block of McKinney Street in reference to the theft report.

The man told police that two women arrived at his house for a party with him and his friend. At some point during the party, the man told police, he passed out.

When he awoke, he noticed cash from his wallet was missing along with his car.

According to the police report, the case is still open.

1770 block of Teasley Lane — At 12:20 p.m. Saturday, an employee of a local business called police stating an unknown person was trying to break in through a door in the back of the building.

Officers responded to the scene and found that the door had been damaged.

The incident is still under investigation.

500 block of West University Drive — An off-duty officer tried to detain a man after the man was allegedly seen shoplifting at a local grocery store. While the officer wrestled with the man, a person called police and backup arrived.

The other officers were able to detain the man. The suspect admitted that he was with three other males who were also allegedly stealing items from the store.

The man who resisted was in possession of a prohibited weapon and was arrested for the weapon and resisting arrest.
