A 23-year-old Ponder resident died after a Monday morning collision on FM2449.

Ryan Grelle, a Denton police spokesman, said the two-vehicle accident was reported at 7:40 a.m.

“A white Toyota Camry heading westbound just past Underwood Road was reported as traveling erratically, swerving into the eastbound lane of traffic,” Grelle said.

A silver Ford F-150 pickup traveling west with five occupants, including children, saw the Camry out of control and tried to move toward the ditch; it then struck the passenger door of the Camry, he said.

The driver of the Camry was taken to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton where he was pronounced dead, Grelle said.

He was later identified as Mark Yarrington.

The occupants of the F-150 were uninjured.

FM2499 was shut down at Interstate 35W for three hours to clear the accident, Grelle said.

Police continue to investigate the accident.
