A 33-year-old man was arrested Tuesday morning after an overnight standoff at the IHOP restaurant in the 2300 block of South Interstate 35E in Lewisville.

A restaurant employee reported overhearing the man talking with a woman about stealing a vehicle at 12:45 a.m., according to Lewisville police.

After police were called and officers arrived, the man barricaded himself in a bathroom at the restaurant, they said.

Police said the bathroom was evacuated after the man said he had a gun.

The man made his way into the attic of the IHOP, and officers waited.

David Lee Horton of Hurst surrendered to police shortly after 5 a.m., according to police Capt. Kevin Deaver.

Horton was arrested on warrants issued by Plano police on charges of aggravated robbery and aggravated kidnapping and a vehicle burglary warrant from Dallas County.

Horton was being held Tuesday in the Lewisville City Jail.

Police said Horton is linked to an aggravated robbery that occurred Jan. 21 in the 3300 block of Dallas Parkway, just off the Parker Road exit of the Dallas North Tollway.

Plano police said a man they believe to be Horton entered a business and displayed a handgun. The suspect restrained all individuals inside and robbed the store of cash and electronics.

Police were questioning Horton and two women about other crimes, police said.
