Golden Triangle Mall recently added the first three restaurants of its new food court lineup.

Italia Express, Smoothies Paradise and Tobu Oriental Eatery are three of the six food court options the mall will offer when renovations are complete in September, mall manager Matt Ludemann said.

Italia Express will offer brick oven pizza, sandwiches and Italian dishes. Tobu Oriental Eatery will offer food from a hibachi grill, sushi and Asian bowls. Smoothies Paradise will offer smoothies, ice cream and drinks.

“The ultimate synergy will happen when you have multiple options,” Ludemann said.

And that’s the mall’s goal. In addition to the three that already are on board, the mall would like to have a salad restaurant and a sandwich shop, Ludemann said.

Demolition has begun on the west side of the 765,000-square-foot mall, adjacent to Sears, where the food court will be located. Part of that work will include remodeling the west entrance, he said.

There will be new roofing on the entrance, and the mall is having the parking lots redone.

“The food court won’t open until September,” Ludemann said, adding that it will be done in time for Christmas shopping.

As part of the renovation process, the Loop 288 entrance to the mall parking lot will be closed from Feb. 25 to March 25. The mall is adding a third lane for outbound traffic to improve flow so vehicles don’t get backed up near Starbucks, he said.

The parking lots are being redone by Denton-based Jagoe-Public Co., which put in the original parking lot, Ludemann said.

Today, the mall will be adding a baby grand piano to its center court. The player piano is open to anyone who wants to come in and perform, he said.

“We’re moving forward,” he said. “Everything is going smooth.”
