Noon — Submission deadline for the NCTC Creative Writing Contest, sponsored by North Central Texas College’s English, Speech and Foreign Language Department. Four main divisions for amateur writers ranging from middle school age through adults, with subcategories for poetry, short stories and essays. Cash prizes are awarded in each division. Awards ceremony featuring former Texas Poet Laureate Alan Birkelbach will be at 11 a.m. April 12 at the First State Bank Center for the Performing Arts on the NCTC Gainesville campus.
