Power has been turned off in areas around the 400 block of Round Grove Road in Lewisville after an electrical fire there this afternoon.

Lewisville Battalion Chief Chris Sweet said firefighters extinguished the fire, and Texas Municipal Power is on the scene and has shut off power. The power is expected to remain off for at least two hours. He said mostly businesses will be affected but, some residential might as well.

“It’s mostly the area of Round Grove and Vista Ridge Mall that will be without [power],” Sweet Said.

Sweet said they received a call at 2:30 p.m. today that alerted them a transformer was smoking.  Sweet isn’t clear if the box was fully on fire or if it was just smoking.

“We were able to quickly contain the incident and wait for the electric company to arrive on scene before leaving,” Sweet said.
