Blotter: Man reports injury while trying to stop robbery

A store manager told police he was injured while trying to stop three suspects from robbing the business Saturday afternoon.

The robbery took place in the 2200 block of South Interstate 35E. The suspects allegedly stole three designer purses and a designer wallet, according to the police report.

The manger attempted to catch the suspects, but he was pushed to the ground and hit his head, according to the report.

The manager was transported to a nearby clinic for evaluation and then taken to a hospital for further treatment, according to the police report.

No arrests were made at the time the report was filed.

5000 block of Interstate 35 — An officer pulled a vehicle over for speeding, and while talking to the driver, the officer smelled marijuana in the car, according to a police report.

The officer ordered the driver to exit the vehicle. The driver admitted to possessing drug paraphernalia, but during a search of the vehicle, the officer also discovered a usable quantity of marijuana, according to the police report.

There was one passenger in the vehicle, and he told the officer that the marijuana belonged to him. The passenger was arrested for possession of marijuana, less than two ounces.

The driver was issued a citation for speeding and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the report.

500 block of North Bell Avenue — An officer detained a man for urinating in public early Saturday afternoon just a few yards east of the Denton Arts & Jazz Festival.

According to the police report, the man admitted to being in possession of marijuana.

The man was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, according to the report.

800 block of Imperial Drive — A teacher reported to police that she found a 2-year-old child walking alone without any supervision on Saturday afternoon, according to a police report.

Two officers were dispatched and met with the teacher and the 2-year-old.

The case is still pending and no other details about the case were made available.
