A 41-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly trying to steal plates from a store in the 1500 block of Loop 288 Friday night, police said.
An employee of the store, police said, reported the woman had placed a box of plates in her cart among items that were already in bags. According to reports, she then purchased a money order and attempted to walk out of the store without paying for the plates.
The woman was detained by a store employee and then arrested by Denton police, reports show.
600 block East Hickory Street — Denton police responded to a vandalism report Friday afternoon. The victim, a 24-year-old female, said she came back from being out of town to a damaged bicycle. According to reports, someone flattened both tires, scratched something into the seat and damaged her cable lock.
900 block W University Drive — A rental store reported a theft of service after 5 p.m. Friday, reports show. Police said the suspect rented a television from the rental store and then pawned it. According to reports, the suspect is past due on payments and is refusing to make the payments or return the merchandise.
