Both Denton’s city manager and the head of Denton Municipal Electric received honors at the annual meeting of the Texas Public Power Association on July 23-24 in San Antonio.
Denton City Manager George Campbell was given the Honor Roll Award, which acknowledges substantial contributions toward the prestige of community-based utilities and the attainment of their goals. He shared the award with two other Texans, Guadalupe Castillo with New Braunfels Utilities and Robert Waid, formerly with Bandera Electric Cooperative.
DME general manager Phil Williams was elected chairman of the association’s Governmental Relations Legislative Committee. He is also the association’s president-elect and will serve as its president in 2014.
