Blotter: Woman reports identity allegedly stolen

A woman reported Saturday afternoon that an unknown person allegedly used her identity to have electric service provided to a home, according to a police report.

The woman learned of the identity theft after she received an unauthorized electric bill charge on her credit card.

The woman, who made the report in the police department lobby, told police that she wanted to press charges. According to the police report, the electric company has a driver’s license number of a possible suspect.

No arrests were made at the time the report was filed and the case is still open, according to the police report.

800 block of Mack Drive — An elderly man reported that he allowed a stranger to enter his home Saturday afternoon and that the stranger allegedly stole four gold rings from his bedroom closet, according to a police report.

It was unclear why the man let a stranger into his home, but according to the report, the elderly man told police he got distracted at some point during the incident.

That’s when the theft allegedly took place, the victim told police. The case is still open, according to the police report.
