State environmental officials approved a default order in Austin on Wednesday to fine a local marina $17,500 for allegedly violating state rules operating its wastewater plant on Lewisville Lake.

This is the second time in two years that the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has fined Marine Quest-Hidden Cove and ordered corrective action. The marina is located on the eastern shore of the lake, about 3 miles west of FM423 off Stonebrook Road in The Colony.

Representatives from Marine Quest-Hidden Cove did not return a call for comment.

In this latest action, state inspectors found that Marine Quest-Hidden Cover had allegedly not submitted the discharge reports for the operation of a wastewater treatment facility for its 340-slip facility in 2012, state records showed.

The fine was increased because the marina has a history of noncompliance. Similar alleged violations with its wastewater facility were documented there in 2011 and in previous years.

The default order includes deadlines for corrective actions, including submitting the missing reports and providing employee training on the reporting requirements and showing proof of that training within the next 45 days.
